Our graduates : figures of excellence

At the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, we're committed to training not only professional artists, but also well-rounded individuals ready to excel in a variety of fields.

Many of our graduates go on to shine in classical and contemporary dance, as performers, choreographers or teachers. Others apply the skills and values they've acquired at our institution in diverse fields such as cultural management, dance therapy, healthcare and many other rewarding professions.

An exceptional career

Jean Grand-Maître
Finishing 1986
An icon of Canadian dance, he directed Alberta Ballet for two decades, creating unforgettable works and collaborating with international music icons. A member of the Order of Canada, he is celebrated for his innovative vision and influence on contemporary ballet.
Maude Sabourin
Finishing 2006
She shone as a principal soloist with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo before returning to Quebec, where she is a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. An accomplished and inspiring artist, she embodies iconic roles and collaborates with world-renowned choreographers.
Cohen Aitchison-Dugas
Finishing 2016
Upon graduating from the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, Cohen made his European debut with the Junior Ballett, then the Ballett Zürich, where he was awarded the Prix de la danse de Zürich. Cohen continues to shine on the world stage, now dancing with the Staatsballett Berlin.
Sylvain Lafortune
Finishing 1979
Sylvain Lafortune made his mark on the stage as a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens before moving on to contemporary dance, collaborating with such renowned figures as Ginette Laurin and Benoît Lachambre. As a teacher and artistic advisor, he is widely recognized for his expertise in working with partners, a field in which he excels and inspires.
Tatiana Lerebours
Finishing 2019
A dancer in the corps de ballet of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Tatiana Lerebours' exceptional career at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec was supported by scholarships from our Foundation.
Anne Dryburgh
Finishing 1987
An accomplished artist who has made her mark on the stage as a classical dancer and actress, she is now a teacher at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec and stands out for her exceptional commitment: in charge of recruitment, choreographer for our students and performer in her spare time, she embodies passion and dedication to dance.
Paco Ziel
Finishing 2014
Founder and co-director of the transdisciplinary company VÍAS, Paco Ziel weaves artistic links between Montreal and Mexico City with an innovative vision that earned him the Prix de la danse de Montréal 2024, Revelation category. For almost 10 years, he danced with RUBBERBAND, famous for its style blending break and classical ballet, while also acting as artistic coordinator.
Geneviève Guérard
Finishing 1992
She shone as a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens before conquering television audiences with her wit and vivacity. Today, Geneviève Guérard continues to inspire by combining creativity and well-being, notably with her yoga studio.
Marc Lalonde
Finishing 1987
General Manager of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens since 2018, he has directed leading institutions in music, circus, theater and dance, accumulating over 30 years of experience in cultural management.
Etienne Lavigne
Formed in 1995
A former Principal Soloist and Guest Principal Artist with the National Ballet of Canada, Etienne is now a true ambassador for dance and the École supérieure. General Manager of the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur and of the Côté Danse company, he contributes to the development of dance in Canada, while co-chairing the Fondation de l'École supérieure since 2023.

Participate in exclusive activities

We occasionally organize special events for our graduates. For Ludmilla Chiriaeff's centenary, we offered Alumni Classes to relive the unique experience of dancing in our studios. Other activities will be proposed to celebrate the École supérieure's 60th anniversary in 2026.
