Job offer: Documentation technician

With over 40,000 documents, the Bibliothèque de la danse Vincent-Warren holds the largest specialized dance collection in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. Its objective is to identify, acquire, preserve, organize and disseminate information on dance in order to support the pedagogical mission of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec and to meet the needs of dance research for the entire community.

Position summary
Reporting to the Head Librarian, the incumbent will be responsible for :

  • Carrying out the intellectual and material processing of various types of documents and archival holdings.
  • Provide research assistance and technical support to users.
  • Carrying out tasks relating to the circulation of documents (loans, returns, reminders, reservations).
  • Manage periodical subscriptions.
  • Develop and implement training and animation activities for various clienteles.
  • Participate in the development of collections and services.
  • Participate in the management of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec's archives.
  • Help manage the integrated library management system.
  • Monitor and enforce rules of conduct.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.

Education and qualifications required

  • College diploma in documentation techniques or equivalent knowledge of dance and its history.
  • Relevant library experience.
  • Good knowledge of current library standards.
  • Good knowledge of social networks and digital technologies.
  • Ability to work on a Mac.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Perfect command of French and English.

Asset

  • Interest in dance and knowledge of the dance world.

The person we're looking for is dynamic and demonstrates a definite ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks and produce quality work, in addition to having a strong sense of customer service. He/she possesses exceptional organizational skills, analytical abilities, creativity, thoroughness and attention to detail, autonomy, initiative and interpersonal skills.

Conditions and benefits

Permanent position of 35h/week (Tuesday to Saturday).

Salary: $23/hour + group insurance, RRSP + vacation + sick/personal days.
