With Ludmilla, Les Grands Ballets canadiens de Montréal (GBC) finally celebrate the 100th birthday of their founder, Ludmilla Chiriaeff (1924-1996), known as Madame. The program is organized by a company that is “more Canadian than it has been in a long time”, as General Manager Marc Lalonde proudly affirms. A company that is returning to Madame's dreams : to bring dance and dancers to life here.
“We've succeeded in establishing a real collaboration between the École supérieure de ballet du Québec and the company; a protocol, mechanisms that make it last, and that will endure beyond the directions, in my opinion. Montreal is not a big enough city to afford a lack of links with the École,” analyses Marc Lalonde.
