A poetic and sensitive celebration of Ludmilla Chiriaeff, whose 100th birthday we celebrate in 2024, the École supérieure de ballet du Québec's annual show, Corps de ballet - Tribute to Ludmilla Chiriaeff, honors the vision and audacity of this undisputed pioneer of dance in Quebec, founder of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the École supérieure.
Some 120 young artists will offer a masterful performance, testifying to the living legacy of Ludmilla Chiriaeff and a promising new generation of Quebec artists.
A skilful blend of excerpts from the great works of the classical repertoire (Lac des Cygnes, Carmina Burana), original contemporary creations (Jean Grand-Maître, Anne Plamondon) and characterful dances from Quebec folklore, each of the show's seven pieces promises to be memorable.
A unique artistic experience combining sound, image and movement, the show will resonate with Ludmilla Chiriaeff's voice, offering an intimate and touching incursion into her personal history and her inspiring vision of a dancing Quebec.
