Ludmilla Chiriaeff Celebrated in a Video by La Fabrique culturelle

La Fabrique culturelle, Télé-Québec's video platform, has unveiled the video Centenaire de Ludmilla Chiriaeff : pionnière de la danse au Québec. Created in collaboration with the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, this video retraces the journey of the founder of the École supérieure and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, highlighting her indelible legacy in Quebec's dance world.

Captivating interviews with Anik Bissonnette, Artistic Director of the École supérieure, and Katia Mead, Ludmilla Chiriaeff’s daughter, filmed in the École’s studios, bring an intimate depth to this historical retrospective.

The capsule also includes fascinating archival footage of Ludmilla Chiriaeff, much of it from the Bibliothèque de la danse Vincent-Warren, offering a unique glimpse into her life and career.

In addition, our students present an elegant performance of the Barre de Madame, a legendary routine from Ludmilla Chiriaeff’s teaching, delivering a beautiful danced tribute to our founder.

One of the most touching aspects of the video lies in its exploration of Madame Chiriaeff’s lifelong dedication and passion. Not only did she found two of the most important dance institutions in Quebec, but she also passed on to her students a love for the art, the discipline of hard work, and the importance of keeping dance alive throughout the province.

More than just a tribute, this video is an artistic celebration of a visionary whose influence is still felt today.
