A little history...
The story of Madame Ludmilla Chiriaeff, founder of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, is the incredible story of a stateless immigrant who came to Quebec in the 1950s with a great dream: to make the art of dance flourish. For many years, it was in Rawdon, on summer vacations, that she shared precious and unforgettable moments with her loved ones in this beloved place. She is buried there, in the Russian Orthodox cemetery, alongside several members of her family. A statue has also been erected at Rawdon's Centre d'interprétation multiethnique to pay tribute to her.
