Ludmilla show by Les Grands Ballets
The École supérieure de ballet du Québec is proud to take part in Les Grands Ballets Canadiens' Ludmilla show, a tribute to Ludmilla Chiriaeff, founder of Les Grands Ballets and the École supérieure.
This triple program features works by renowned artists who either influenced or knew the woman known as Madame. A creation by Jean Grand-Maître will be accompanied by three other pieces by choreographers James Kudelka, George Balanchine and Ginette Laurin in this show, offering a vibrant exploration of Ludmilla Chiriaeff's legacy.
Our students will be dancing in Jean Grand-Maître's choreography Continuum.
In honor of Ludmilla Chiriaeff, Jean Grand-Maître, one of the most talented Canadian choreographers of his generation and internationally recognized for his collaborations with Elton John, Sarah McLachlan, k.d. lang and Joni Mitchell, will present his piece Continuum, created for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the next generation of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec. This show is inspired by Madame Chiriaeff's roots and traces the journey of an artist, war refugee and exile from her native country, who takes her love of dance with her to her new home. There, she will sow the seeds of passion for this - as yet little-known - art with rare insight.
