Call for applications : Pianist accompanist for classical ballet class

The École supérieure is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and creative-minded pianists to accompany the ballet classes in our various programs.

The mission of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec is to train dancers and creators who meet the highest institutional standards of the professional dance world, and thereby promote the recognition, influence and development of dance. Founded by Ludmilla Chiriaeff in 1966 at the request of the Quebec Ministry of Cultural Affairs, it is the benchmark in Quebec for professional teaching and training in classical dance.

Main role :
- Accompany ballet classes in real time.
- Work closely with the teacher to ensure the smooth flow of the class.
- Participate in rehearsals and events as a musical accompanist.

Desired profile :
- Excellent musicality.
- Excellent sight-reading and improvisation skills.
- Respect for tempos and dynamics, adapting the scores of the various exercises according to the flow of the class and the teacher's indications.
- Knowledge of musical styles associated with classical dance (Baroque, Romantic, etc.).
- Experience in ballet accompaniment or in a similar field.
- Knowledge of classical ballet vocabulary an asset.

Personal qualities :
- Artistic sensitivity and ability to convey emotion through music.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to the teacher's specific needs.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Other requirements :
- Availability to work flexible hours.
- Good knowledge of French.
